DAY 2: CULTURE, CULTURE, CULTURE
Today, we fully immerse ourselves in Ghanaian culture - and what better way to do that than through history, food, and art? (I’ll wait….)
In the morning, we’ll connect with a local artisan for an African tie-dye workshop, creating our own fabric while discovering the stories and symbolism behind traditional patterns.
Next up, we dive into a guided food tour where we will experience the heart of Ghanaian cuisine one bite at a time. And who knows.... we might even settle the age-old debate; Who has the best Jollof Rice? Lol
Afterward, we’ll explore the city of Accra, visiting iconic landmarks and learning about Ghana’s journey to independence.
Later that evening we get our formal introduction to Ghana - at our Welcome Dinner! We’ll share an intimate meal as a group at one of Accra's premiere restaurants.
Afterwards, those of us who can still hang will hit the town in search of the infamous Ghana party vibes we've heard so much about!
Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
DAY 3: BEACH CLUB & MARKET VIBES
After our jam-packed intro to Accra, we’ll ease into a laid-back afternoon. Think sun on your skin, sand between your toes, and ocean waves setting the vibe at a beach club—complete with good music, great food, and ice-cold drinks. A perfect taste of Ghana’s lively beach culture.
Later, we switch gears and dive into souvenir shopping at Makola Market, the city’s biggest and busiest market—bring your bargaining A-game.
The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace.
Meals Provided: Breakfast
DAY 4: SANKOFA - TO RETURN AND GET IT
This journey marks our official return home to where they said we’d never return. We’ll celebrate with a transformative visit to Cape Coast Castle.
This part of the trip will be powerful and emotional for many. Our expert guide will show us around the ‘castles’ sharing crucial stories of our ancestral past. This visit culminates with the hauntingly infamous “Door of No Return,” which enslaved Africans passed through before being shipped to the New World.
Although this journey can be difficult, it is an essential step in reconnecting with our past and honoring our ancestors.
Afterward, we’ll travel to a Ghanaian village for a special meet-and-greet with the Chief and respected elders. While there, we’ll take part in a traditional naming ceremony, embracing our African roots as we are given Ghanaian names. It will be a powerful day of connection as we honor our return to the Motherland, weaving together culture, unity, and heritage.
Meals Provided: Breakfast and Lunch
